GEORGE I GUINEA
1714-1727
George I Guinea 1714
(Obverse 1, Reverse 1)
There are five different obverses and two different reverses
issued for the guinea of the George I reign.

It was issued in every year from 1714 to 1727.

The 1714 guinea is the only coin to be issued for George's
reign during this date. Subsequently there were many coins
issued bearing the 1714 date for Queen Anne.

The obverses were by John Croker and the reverses were by
Johan Ochs senior or Croker.

In 1721, 22 & 26 guineas were minted with an Elephant and
castle below bust which meant the gold used came from the
Africa Company. The very last gold coin to have an Elephant
and castle was the 1726 guinea.
