George II Five Guineas 1729-1741 |
There are two different obverses and two different reverses issued for the five guineas of the George II reign. The first obverse was by John Crocker. The second obverse was by John Tanner. Some coins have E.I.C. below the bust, they were struck using gold from the East India Company. Some coins of 1745 have LIMA below the bust. These were made using silver captured from the Spanish by Admiral George Anson in June 1743. |
