WILLIAM III FIVE GUINEA 1699-1701 |
The five guinea coin was only produced in the last three years of William III reign. There two different obverses and there are three different reverses issued for the five guineas of William III reign. The 1701 five guinea is often referred to as "fine work" as it displays great workmanship and detail. Some five guineas have an Elephant and castle below bust which meant the gold used came from the Africa Company. No five guineas were minted at local provincial mints. |
