The 1831 sovereign was also issued in a plain edged proof format. There was also a proof issued in 1832. The bust was designed by William Wyon, and the new wreath reverse was designed by Jean Baptiste Merlen. The obverse features the portrait of king William IV with the words GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR REX F: D: The reverse features House of Hanover coat of arms shield and crown above.ANNO ("In the year of (Our) Lord") and the date below. 1831-1837 Gold, 8 grams, 22mm Diameter. |
